The objective of the workshop was to create synergy between different community-led programs aimed at increasing Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, on the one hand, and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, on the other. The idea to encourage people within Maasai and Samburu communities in particular to abandon the culturally embedded practice of girl circumcision through the facilitation of Alternative Rites of Passage was evaluated. The workshop was attended by local government officials, Amref Health Africa field staff and community leaders.
