MICROPLASTICS IN MARINE FISH AND MUSSELS: OCCURRENCE AND EFFECTS

  • H.A. Leslie (Examiner)

Activity: PhD thesis ExaminationPhD thesis examination

Description

The dissertation falls within the research field of marine microplastic environmental risk assessment. This applied field of research is inherently characterized by mixed disciplines of analytical environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology, and requires some knowledge of other disciplines as well e.g. polymer chemistry.
In her thesis, Inger Lise Nerland Bråte investigated the abundance of (micro)plastics and other anthropogenic microparticles in two marine biota, Atlantic cod and Blue mussel Mytilus spp., and investigated their uptake and effects in Mediterranean mussel Mytilus galloprovencialis.
