Description
As part of the Soy Stories project (Connected sustainability histories and futures of the global Soyacene), this three-day workshop brought together an international group of scholars and practitioners to collaboratively explore the performativity of interfaces between pasts, presents, and futures. Rather than presenting completed work, participants co-created new conceptual and creative outputs that bridge historiography, memory studies, sustainability transitions, and transdisciplinary research. The workshop—titled Permeable and Performative Temporalities: Researching and engaging with transformative, transdisciplinary, and transnational pasts–presents–futures—invited participants to work across disciplinary and geographical boundaries, combining historical inquiry with transdisciplinary engagement. It built on Soy Stories’ central aim to render plural and connected sustainability histories actionable for imagining more inclusive futures.
Through collective writing, creative sessions, and “world café” group formats, participants developed new ideas for publications, exhibitions, performances, and other public and academic interventions. The workshop thus served as an incubator for cross-disciplinary collaboration within and beyond the Soy Stories consortium, advancing the project’s methodological innovation at the intersection of historiography, transdisciplinary research, and sustainability futures.
