Description
On May 26th, Alexandra Greene had the great joy of co-hosting, together with the Parent-Student-Resident Organization (PSRO), an evening of joy in celebration of the co-creation project Refugee Family Stories: reflections on food, education, and daily life during COVID-19. This project took shape over many months, beginning in March 2020. Together with four refugee households in City Heights, San Diego, we developed a visual storytelling project to document the pandemic. Our intention was to take a creative and family-centred approach to explore how students, their parents, families, and communities were experiencing COVID-19. The project aimed to identify the challenges that the pandemic presented to City Heights residents, while also highlighting the resilience, joy, and above all, leadership of refugee communities in City Heights.
