Symposium on "Digital work" at Academy of Management Specialized Conference. Big Data and Managing in a Digital Economy

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventSeminarAcademic

Description

Almost all work nowadays is inevitably influenced by the algorithmic and other data-driven technologies and moves towards what we term “digital work”. While the drastic changes in the work landscape are highly debated in popular press, existing social science scholarship has not yet provided a solid theoretical understanding of the fundamental nature of these changes. Our symposium will bring together the insights from nascent empirical scholarship on how digital data and algorithmic technologies are used and with what consequences for work practices.
