This chapter provides a concise overview of the history of New Testament textual criticism in the Low Countries. It aims to map the main developments by individual scholars affiliated with Dutch and Flemish institutes in this field over the past three centuries, beginning around 1700. Particular attention is given to critics in the Low Countries who have made significant contributions to New Testament textual scholarship, both nationally and internationally. Representatives from each of the centuries under discussion are included. These scholars and their contexts are precisely described and situated within the broader academic and intellectual environments. Moreover, three text-critical examples (1 Tim 3:16, 2 Pet 3:10, and 1 John 5:7) are chosen to exemplify the scholarly contributions from the Low Countries and their impact beyond academia. The chapter concludes by introducing two ongoing projects, namely the continuation and realisation of the “historical turn” by the Amsterdam team and the international involvement of the Editio Critica Maior at Leuven.
