Description

Is Qatargate on the ballot? “The question is really whether parties are going to exploit it. The interesting thing is Qatargate basically reflected badly on the mainstream parties. It’s an easy target for the right wing parties to say ‘well, you know this is what’s happening with the mainstream in Europe, they use it to enrich themselves,’” according to political scientist Ben Crum, from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

“It really depends on the extent to which the right picks up on this issue but if they do it’s a really vulnerable issue for the social democrats above all of course, but also for other mainstream parties,” Crum added.
