Course Objective

Conduct empirical research, under supervision, on a topic in the field of psychology by collecting and analyzing research data and reporting on its results.

Course Content

The International B-thesis Clinical Learning Line is focused on Psychopathology, Health and Prevention (English). The content of the B-thesis lies in the research area of the chosen variant. During the B-thesis you will be involved in a study from start to finish. You will write a research proposal, independently collect and analyze data, and as a final step report all this in your B-thesis.

Teaching Methods

At the start there is an obligatory meeting where students are trained on data acquisition and ethics. During the thesis period there is an obligatory presentation and attendance at presentations of peer students is obligatory. The student receives individual feedback from the supervisor on draft versions of (parts of) the B-thesis. In addition, there are non-obligatory Q&A lectures focused on the writing process and students will provide each other with peer feedback. The schedule is communicated via the Canvas page of the specific track and not via rooster.vu.nl
- as a student, pay close attention to this!

Method of Assessment

In terms of the design, the B-thesis corresponds to a scientific article and contains the following components: summary (maximum 200 words), introduction, method, results, discussion and reference list. The B-thesis must comply with the guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA). The assessment of the content of the B-thesis (80%), together with the assessment of the student's work attitude (20%), constitute the final grade. Both parts must be completed with a sufficient grade (5.5).
