Course Objective

To obtain knowledge about a topic in the field of protein structure and protein dynamics that currently attracts a lot of attention. To learn how to present and discuss scientific research.

Course Content

Starting literature will be made available for one of the following topics:
- Thermostable proteins
- Prion proteins
- Fluorescent proteins The student studies these papers in detail, and where necessary finds additional literature to understand the papers, and the techniques that are described in them. The student should be able to explain the research questions, the choice of the techniques, the results, their implications and limitations.

Teaching Methods

Self study, contact with lecturer is possible following an appointment

Method of Assessment

Oral discussion with the lecturer. Examination is only possible during the second semester.

Literature

A number of recent scientific papers will be provided

Target Audience

Students of the master's programmes Biomolecular Sciences, Biomedical Sciences or related programmes.

Additional Information

The oral discussion with the lecturer can be done in English or in Dutch.
