Prerequisite for attendance is successful completion of Clinic Year 2. After completion of the module Clinical Course Periodontology-3 the studentis able to demonstrate experience and independency for total periodontal treatment, final treatment planning and treatment performance.is able to perform prosthetic and implant dentistry procedures and knows their indications specifically related to the periodontitis patient.is able to teach the basics of clinical periodontology including surgery to a selected group of undergraduate students in their elective course on periodontology.This clinical module is a continuation of the module Clinical Course Periodontology-2. It aims at advanced skill levels. All aspects of the module Clinical Course Periodontology-2 are executed in own patients. In this clinical module the student will gain more experience and independency in treatment planning and treatment performance. This clinical module of one academic year (42 weeks) is focused on follow-up treatment procedures after initial and surgical periodontal therapy procedures. The student is trained to extend in re-evaluation procedures after surgery, including planning of maintenance therapy. The Periodontology-3 module is focused on the student developing and showing independence and self-reflection. The student will be further taught and guided into the application of implant dentistry to periodontitis patients in need of extra functional/chewing units. Restorative and prosthetic treatment planning concerning dental implants is an important part of the training. Reporting of this additional phase to the referring dentist is also trained and supervised.
