Course Objective

In Future Anthropology, students learn how to effectively apply their anthropological insights into alternative productions to actively engage the non-academic public.

Course Content

During a four-week program, students learn how to apply their anthropological insights arising from their field research project into alternative productions to actively engage the non-academic public. Productions vary between (audio)visual storytelling, investigative journalism, art installations, and online activism and education. Throughout the course, students work towards a collective public event.

Teaching Methods

Plenary sessions, workshops, and team meetings

Method of Assessment

A mix of individual and shared assignments. One final production in the broadest sense of the word, intented for a non-academic audience, based on the bachelor's thesis, that takes no longer than 5-10 minutes to listen to, watch, touch or read.

Target Audience

Third year Bachelor students in Anthropology. This course is not intended for students who do not participate in the Bachelor Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology.

Entry Requirements

This course can only be taken after finishing fieldwork in Bachelor’s Project in Anthropology.
