Course Objective

![CDATA[The objective of the lecture Physics: Electricity and Magnetism is to extend the discussion of the basic concepts of physics and to introduce concepts and methods to understand electrical and magnetic phenomena in nature. The course will be given in English.]]>

Course Content

![CDATA[Physics is the science that describes the properties of matter with the laws of nature. Physics plays an essential role in understanding the properties of living matter and the human body. This lecture will cover the laws that describe how charges interact with each other via electrical forces and how currents underlie magnetic forces. In some lectures, the relationship between electromagnetism and various essential life processes will be elaborated as well as societally relevant mechanisms such as power generation in dynamos (windmills), and the use of direct current/alternatingcurrent.]]>

Teaching Methods

![CDATA[Lecture (hoorcollege) in which concepts and methods of calculation are introduced, as well as some conceptual examples discussed. During the werkcollege (mandatory), the completion of assignments is practiced under the guidance of assistants. Afterwards homework assignments are given. Pre-lecture assignments \"Mastering Physics\" (mandatory) help in processing the material.]]>

Method of Assessment

![CDATA[Written Exam, which has one part conceptual questions (multiple choice), and a second part with written assignments that require calculations.]]>
