After finishing this course, the student:is able to recognize and reproduce the main aspects of the grammar of Biblical Hebrew (including the main points of the morphology of the weak verb);is able to recognize the main aspects of the syntax of Biblical Hebrew prose;is able to independently translate more complex Hebrew sentences;is able to grammatically analyze and translate a simple piece of prose in Biblical Hebrew using grammar, a dictionary and possibly text annotations.Course Content
This module further deepens the knowledge of the grammar and vocabulary of Biblical Hebrew. The focus of the module is on the translation and analysis of simple prose in Biblical Hebrew (classroom / independent). Important aspects of Hebrew grammar are further elucidated on the basis of these texts. This course also covers the main features of the so-called weak verbs.Teaching Methods

This is an English taught course. Note that Dutch-speaking students are allowed to join the Hebreeuws II course of the joint Bachelor Theologie (VU- PThU). However, these Dutch-speaking students should still register for this English course, because this is simply the course that comes with their package and their grade for Hebreeuws II will be registered in Hebrew II.
