Course Content

This course covers the concepts and technical aspects of advanced root canal treatment. It allows the Endodontic Graduate to develop and evaluate the technical skills needed to reach an advanced level of rct. This advanced level is a prerequisite to start treating patients in the Endodontic Clinic. Extracted teeth will be treated in a laboratory setting resembling clinical conditions (dental chair, teeth mounted in plastic jaws mounted in a phantom head, rubber dam isolation). Different techniques of preparation, obturation and obstruction negotiation/removal/ bypass are trained. Process and achievement will be evaluated by radiographs at various angles during and after treatment and by sectioning teeth after treatment.

Teaching Methods

Weekly textbook seminars discussing technical aspects of rct, self-study, training, pre-clinical work, patient discussions, literature discussions.

Method of Assessment

10 cases evaluated according to ‘OHS Evaluationform Clinic-A’. 10 minutes presentation of 10 cases. This presentation will be attended by all present members of the department and graded by three staff members according to the ‘OHS Presentation Evaluation form Introduction in Endo Clinic A’.
