https://studiegids.vu.nl/en/courses/2024-2025/L_ELBALES308This course expands the knowledge you acquired in Literature in a Visual Culture 1 by adding to it theoretical insights into the relations between literary texts and visual culture as presented within the discourses on art, (inter)mediality studies, image(-/+)text studies, and comics studies. After completing this course, students will: 1) have deepened their knowledge of the relations between literary texts and visual culture, 2) be familiar with the theoretical frameworks that feed into the specific topics of this course, 3) be able to apply one of more of these frameworks in the analysis of a specific case study, and 4) be able to report on their findings both orally and in writing.The starting point of this course is an exploration of several key texts in art, intermediality studies, and image, text discourse.
