Course Objective

The aim of this course is to learn how to read scientific texts at a research level, create and organise material to give a seminar talk, and to be able to explain the mathematical concepts and ideas involved. It is also a goal to learn how to constructively participate in a research seminar by asking questions and giving feedback.

Course Content

This is a seminar course about stochastics and follows a “learn by doing” principle: throughout the semester, each student prepares and gives two presentations about a subject within stochastics. They get feedback from the responsible person and from their colleagues. Topics and schedule are decided upon at the beginning of the course.
