https://studiegids.vu.nl/en/courses/2025-2026/E_EORM_ORCPracticing methods of operational research using real-life case studies.Students learn solving real-life problems allocating costs or benefits in joint projects. The training concerns the formulation of the problem in a manageable quantitative model, to evaluate the theoretical properties of available solutions and their computational complexity, to select appropriate and computational tractable solutions, to develop a software tool for solving the problem, to carry out the required calculations and to report the results in an essay. Participants work on a real-life case in small groups of 3 to 5 students.Lecture and Working GroupEssay + presentation. Group work will be evaluated on individual basis.
