    Course Objective

    The student is able to analyse a problem or phenomenon in the field of theology and/or religious studies and to write a coherent, well-defined and methodologically sound report on it. The student:
    - shows the importance of the subject for the academic or religious discourse
    - formulates the research problem and a precise research question with appropriate subquestions
    - formulates his own stance within the research and takes readers outside his own circle into account in the writing process
    - describes the research method(s) and sources used
    - gives a clear and relevant description of the results
    - analyses the results and comes to conclusions and implications of the material for the field of study
    - shows awareness of the distinction between data and judgment, as well as between mainstream and marginal voices in the research field
    - presents all of the above with sound arguments
    - presents all of the above at an appropriate and pleasant level of writing
    - shows responsiblitity for the thesis trajectory, initiative and curiosity, and processes feedback

    Course Content

    Analysis of a problem or phenomenon in the field of theology and/or religious studies, ending in a thesis.

    Only for students of the Research Master of the faculty Religion andTheology.

    Additional Information

    Students will write their thesis proposal in the courses Research Design. During that course a first supervisor will be assigned to the students. When the thesis proposal is ready, a first assessor will be assigned.

    Passing Research Design 2 (G_RMRD2)

    Canvas will be used to inform students, supervisors, and assessors about the entire thesis trajectory. Student, supervisor(s), and assessor(s) will do the actual work via the platform OnStage and follow the designated steps to complete the thesis trajectory.
