Course Objective

The primary aim of this course is to equip you with the competencies to successfully carry out a research project within the area of oral health and dentistry. This involves not only keeping up with the relevant literature but also fostering the development of scientific skills and cultivating a scientific mindset. Throughout the three years of this educational program, you will develop an original research project, which will culminate in the production of a thesis that meets the criteria for submission to a (preferably international) peer-reviewed scientific journal.

Course Content

During the first year of the post-graduation course, your primary goal is to establish your research question or research design. Additionally, you develop a research proposal, which is a detailed plan outlining the objectives, methodology, and expected outcomes of your research project. This phase sets the foundation for your entire research project and ensures you that the research question and design are well-defined and approved.

Teaching Methods

The Research Track runs through the whole period of the Oral Health Sciences training and is composed by three phases, each phase regarding one year of education. These three phases provide you a structured approach to conducting research and writing a thesis, ensuring that you progress systematically through each stage of your research project. It allows for a clear timeline and milestone achievements throughout the post-graduation course. While adhering to the recommended one-year duration for each phase is advisable, you may encounter unique circumstances or challenges that necessitate adjustments to your project timelines. In such instances, it is imperative to maintain open communication with your supervisor. You should thoughtfully discuss deviations from the recommended timeline and have them approved by the supervisor. This collaborative approach allows for adaptability while upholding the program's commitment to academic excellence.
