Course Objective

Academic and Research Skills After successfully writing your BSc. Thesis, you cananalyze and demonstrate an understanding of problems from different perspectives;recognize fundamental structures and to leave out irrelevant information;forward well-founded, substantiated points of view, both in spoken and written format;critically reflect on (the quality of) academic research;complete key stages of the academic research process.actively apply the ethics of academic integrity.Bridging Theory and Practice – Knowledge After successfully writing your BSc. Thesis, youare specialized in and have in-depth knowledge and insights of, the discipline of your thesis topic;can relate, contrast, and compare between theories, models, and concepts within that topic.Social Professional Skills – Communication After successfully writing your BSc. Thesis, you canpresent the findings of an academic inquiry both orally and in writing to an audience of experts as well as non-expertscommunicate professionally in English or Dutch, both in writing and speaking.Self-Awareness After successfully writing your BSc. Thesis, you cantake responsibility for your own actions and decisions;take responsibility for your own learning;make well-founded decisions and can support those choices.

Course Content

The thesis builds on preceding courses and challenges you to both integrate and improve the business knowledge and research skills you have acquired so far. To that end you will individually perform an academic research project on a specific business topic. Next to the writing of the thesis, you will finalize your thesis project by presenting your research in a video pitch.

Teaching Methods

Group and/or individual meetings Note that we expect a student to have attended at least three meetings with the supervisor, as well as to have handed in thesis progress at least three times. If a student doesn’t comply with this stipulation, we reserve the right to refrain from thesis assessment.

Custom Course Registration

The application process includes, in addition to registering for the course via VUnet, also the procedure for selecting a thesis supervisor. A student can only start the thesis once both steps have been completed. If a student does not meet the entry requirements, he/she can submit a request for admission. To do this, the student must keep an eye on the communication regarding this matter (via Canvas and VUnet).

Entry Requirements

As an entry requirement, all BK-courses of BK1 and BK2 need to have been completed sufficiently prior to the admission deadline in period 4 (for the thesis period of p5/6) or period 1 (for the thesis period of p2/3) respectively. In case a student doesn't comply with this entry requirement, but nevertheless feels eligible to start the bachelor's thesis, then student can make an admission request via the appropriate procedure (toelatingsverzoek). However, under no circumstances are exceptions made for students who have failed KWALO (2.5) and/or KWANO (2.6).
