During this course, the ins and outs of tooth wear, notably mechanical (intrinsic attrition and extrinsic abrasion) and chemical (intrinsic and extrinsic erosion) tooth wear, will be dealt with. This multifactorial condition makes diagnosis difficult and treatment planning complicated of this increasing dental problem. It requires specialist attention of both restorative dentists and dentists specialized in orofacial pain & dysfunction. Hence, even though the main part of tooth wear diagnosis and management is dental, a close collaboration between different dental specialists is required for a good treatment outcome and prognosis. Those parts of the tooth wear domain that do have a true multidisciplinary character are dealt with in the Dental Sleep Medicine and Oral Movement Disorders courses.Teaching Methods
