Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to see the theory about transitional justice operating in practice.

Course Content

A field trip to a country (Bosnia, or another European country) that has experienced conflict in the past decades and where a transitional justice process is ongoing, normally in the first half of April.

Teaching Methods

A field trip of approximately 5-6 days including tours, visits to musea, guest lectures etc. to learn about conflict and transitional justice in reality

Method of Assessment

Students who join need to write a preparatory note and a written assignment afterwards.

Target Audience

The course is only open to students of the master International Crimes Conflict and Criminology. The trip will only be organized if a minimum of 15 students apply.

Custom Course Registration

Registration for the course will be made possible after the introduction meeting with the coordinator of the programme (in September).

Additional Information

PLEASE NOTE: Students who take part in this course are to finance it themselves. We aim to keep the costs around 600 euros including accommodation, excursions, and travel costs.
