Description
We examined the expression pattern of SFP genes after mating in the great pond snail, Lymnaea stagnalis. We let the snails mate under observation, and sampled their prostate gland 3, 24, 48 and 192 h after mating to extract total RNA and measure the gene expression using reverse-transcription qPCR (RT-qPCR). We examined six SFP genes previously described, LyAcp5-10 (Koene et al. 2010, Swart et al. 2019). Contrary to our expectation, we did not observe the increased transcription immediately after mating, but a few showed high expression level one week after mating.
