Supplemental Information: Three spaces with no sediment were created during coring between the depths: 2.35-2.40 m, 2.69-3.86 m and 4.49-4.51 m. Two radiocarbon measurements were performed on both sides of the main 'hole', i.e. at 2.68 m and 3.87 m. The difference between the two dates is 140 years (within 14C uncertainty), which confirms that the 'holes' were created during the coring (no sediment missing). Therefore a second depth scale was created called 'Reconstructed depth' where the sediment on each side of the 'holes' has been joined.
