The data analysed in this study is subject to the following licenses/ restrictions: This article uses the factually anonymous data of the German IAB- SOEP Migration Sample, waves 1–3. The German IAB- SOEP Migration Sample is a representative longitudinal survey conducted jointly by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg and the German Socio- Economic Panel (SOEP) at the DIW Berlin. Data access was provided via a Scientific Use File supplied by the Research Data Centre (FDZ) of the German Federal Employment Agency (BA) at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB). https://doi.org/10.5684/soep.iab-soep-mig.2015. All documentation concerning the IAB- SOEP Migration Sample and including questionnaires and data manuals are made available by the FDZ (https://fdz.iab.de/en/FDZ_Individual_Data/iab-soep-mig.aspx) and DIW (https://www.diw.de/en/diw_01.c.552818.en/soep_iab_soep_mig_2015.html). Due to the German Data Protection legislation, we cannot make the original data from the IAB- SOEP Migration Sample or the dataset we generated available.
