André van Montfort (1959) studeerde Bestuurskunde (doctoraal: 1984) en Rechtsgeleerdheid (doctoraal: 1987) en promoveerde op een rechtssociologisch onderzoek (1991). Hij is sinds 2001 als universitair hoofddocent Bestuurskunde verbonden aan de Faculteit der Sociale Wetenschappen van de Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam. Daar verzorgt hij het bachelorvak Recht voor Besturen en Organiseren, coördineert hij het mastervak Beleid en Management en begeleidt hij bestuurskundige masterthesissen. Zijn onderzoek richt zich op het thema 'kwaliteit van besturen', met bijzondere aandacht voor de vormgeving en werking van integriteitssystemen (op vooral lokaal niveau) en rechtsbeschermingsprocedures. Zijn bestuurlijke taken betreffen het vicevoorzitterschap van het College van Beroep voor de Examens van de VU en het vicevoorzitterschap van de geschillenadviescommissie van de VU.
André van Montfort (1959) holds an MSc degree in Public Administration, an LLM degree in Dutch Law, and a Ph.D in Sociology of Law. He has been an associate professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam since 2001. Besides teaching the bachelor’s course Law for Governance and Organization and the master’s course Policy and Management, he supervises master’s theses in the field of Public Administration. His research activities focus on the theme ‘quality of governance', with special attention to the design and functioning of integrity systems and legal protection procedures. His administrative tasks include deputy chairmanships of the University Board of Appeals for Examinations and the University Disputes Advisory Committee.
