Research

FluidNET is a project about fluid migration in different parts of the Earth crust, which was granted by the European Union Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action, and I am one of the Early-Stage Researchers working on the upper crust part of this international massif project.

Basically, I am an exploration geologist, and my research project is about fluid migration in an orogenic foreland basin related to a very old mountain (400–350 Ma) called the Variscan orogeny. I specialise in structural geology and geochemistry to analyse quartz veins that were formed from hydrothermal fluids in different geological events.

Furthermore, my research delves into the origin of quartz veins, focusing on stable isotopes (δ30Si, δ18O, δ2H) and utilizing advanced tools such as Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) and Cavity Ring Down Spectroscopy (CRDS). The 40Ar/39Ar dating method is a crucial part of my research to determine the absolute age of fluid inclusions within quartz to get the formation age of quartz veins, providing valuable insights into the kinematics and geodynamics of these veins. EPMA, Raman, and microthermometry data on fluid inclusions and samples are integral to my projects. Furthermore, I harness the power of drone photogrammetry to create immersive 3D models of veins' structures in outcrops.

Teaching

During my PhD project, I supervise several bachelor's and master's student thesis.
