In September 2019 Amba van Erkelens started as a PhD candidate at the Management and Organisation department, focusing on social and sustainable entrepreneurship. She completed the Bachelor 'Interdisciplinary Social Sciences' at the University of Amsterdam and holds a Research Master 'Business in Society' from both the VU and the UvA.

Research

Amba conducts research in the fields of Social Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Circular Entrepreneurship. She is inspired by the Entrepreneurship as Practice lens and therefore mostly conducts ethnographic fieldwork. Her current research focuses on how social entrepreneurs enact resilience in times of crisis and how circular entrepreneurs embed themselves in a value network to create circular business models.
