Ana Popovici is a PhD candidate in the Economics department at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She holds a Research Master (2023) in Economics from the Tinbergen Institute (TI) and a MSc (2020) in Economics (track: Organization & Markets) from the University of Amsterdam (UvA).

Research

Her research focuses on empirical industrial organization, investigating industry-level sources of market power. Specifically, she examines how input market frictions affect firm outcomes and production decisions, how demand is influenced by firm product placement strategies, and estimation techniques designed to measure markups and markdowns.
