Dr. Anna Goldberg is an Assistant Professor at the Criminal Law and Criminology department in the Faculty of Law. Before this, she worked on her PhD between 2017-2021, after obtaining her BA at the University College of Maastricht and her MSc in Forensic Psychology, all at Maastricht University. As Assistant Professor she predominantly is teaching in the Law in Society bachelor programme, as well conducting her research. 

Research

Anna Goldberg's research interest is mostly related to the interdisciplinary field of neurolaw, which studies the relevance and application of neuroscience in the law. Her PhD focussed on addiction and the neuroscientific developments in the conceptualisation of addiction, and whether these developments influence the current criminal legal stance towards addiction. Aside from neurolaw-related topics, Anna's broader interests include the insanity defence and mentally disordered defendants.
