Anne is a PhD Candidate at the Water and Climate Risk department of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her PhD research aims to contribute to equitable adaptation pathways for coastal communities exposed to the increasing effects of climate change. By creating insight into the drivers, conditions and dependencies of household (in)equalities in relation to government adaptation investments, her research sets out to inform decision-making models, ensuring they are just and inclusive.
Having and interdisciplinary background, Anne has a particular interest in social-environmental issues. During her master thesis, she conducted ethnographic research with Indigenous communities in Colombia, studying how Indigenous knowledge and life worlds are included and represented in the development of Marine Protected Areas.
Before joining IVM, Anne worked as a programme coordinator of the Voices for Just Climate Action Alliance with WWF-NL. Here, she collaborated with a global network of NGOs, CSOs, activists and grassroots organisations on locally led (climate adaptation) approaches, just climate finance, and climate advocacy.
