Annelieke Baller is a PhD candidate at the Department of Information, Logistics and Innovation.
In the PhD project we develop methods for improving the management of the cash supply chains of banks. Banks traditionally manage their own cash supply chain but more and more cross chain control centers such as Geld Service Nederland take over that role. Cash supply chains are important worldwide but remain virtually unexplored in literature. In this project we aim to develop strategies and supporting tools for generating increased efficiencies in cash supply chains by integrating transportation, inventory and maintenance decisions, while seeking sufficient unpredictability in the routes for safety reasons.
The project is supported by Geld Services Nederland and by software provider ORTEC. It is furthermore backed by the three large Dutch banks (ABN-AMRO, ING Bank and Rabobank) and the Dutch central bank (DNB).
