Berthold de Jong studeerde in 1992 aan de Vrije Universiteit af als bedrijfseconoom in de richting accountancy. In 1996 rondde hij de post doctorale opleiding tot Registeraccountant af, waarna hij in 1998 is gestart als docent financial auditing. Naast zijn docentschap is Berthold zelfstandig gevestigd en richt hij zich op het "bussy season" en bij kwaliteitstrajecten bij accountantskantoren. Tijdens zijn colleges vertaalt hij de accountancy regelgeving naar de dagelijkse praktijk.
