Binesh Balan (1991) is an Overseas Scholar from Kerala (India) in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Social Sciences. He was a former National Overseas Scholar from India at University of Sussex (2017-18) where he did his Masters' in Anthropology and then he moved to Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2018. He obtained his Under Graduation (B.A) in Development Economics from St. Pius X College (2012) and Maters in Business Administration (M.B.A) from University of Kerala (2014).


Research Interests: Religion, Culture, Diaspora, Migration, Nationalism, Identity, Indigeneous People, South Asia, Sanskritisation, Spatialisation, Power, Alienation, Gift Exchange, Imaginations, Dreams, Memmories, Contentious Politcs.

Working Project: Understanding Mulnivasi Diaspora in Comfortable Exiles with Special Reference to the Tuluvans of Southern India (2018-2022).
