Dr. Carina Pittens works as Assistant Professor Patient Involvement at the Athena Institute. In addition, she is a board member of the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board (CBG) where she has specific attention for the patient perspective.

Her expertise and specific areas of interest are the involvement of multiple stakeholder groups (particularly patients and other vulnerable groups) in health decision-making processes. She has extensive experience with qualitative and participatory research and reflexive learning. She has been involved in numerous (inter)national research projects where she has designed and facilitated meaningful involvement practices in various domains and studied its impact.
