As of October 2021, Ceciel works as a PhD-candidate at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her research aims to help uncover how employment precariousness might affect mental health and vice versa, by taking an approach that draws from (occupational) epidemiology, sociology and artificial intellegence. 

Prior to starting her PhD, Ceciel obtained a MSc in Social Epidemiology from University College London in 2021 (Distinction). She received the Michael Marmot Studentship in Social Epidemiology in 2020.
