Christian Franssen is a PhD candidate at the department of Operations Analytics of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Additionally, he is an external researcher at De Nederlandsche Bank (the central bank of the Netherlands).

Research

My research is mainly focussed on the application of optimization theory in network science to gain insights and understanding of network-modelled financial and organizational structures.

I am involved in the following courses:

  • Operations Research I - BSc Econometrics & Operations Research (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam)
  • Simulation Analysis & Optimization - MScRes Business Data Science (joint initiative Erasmus University Rotterdam, University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam)
  • Simulation Methods for Optimization and Learning - 2023 Globex Julmester (Peking University).

I am also supervising MSc. students writing their thesis in the Econometrics & Operations Research program at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
