Research

My research bridges the wisdom of legal and political scholars to make sense of governance transition with a long-standing interest in its relationship with administrative justice (AJ) in different systems of government.

I obtained a doctoral degree from Utrecht University in 2018 after I succeeded defending my doctoral thesis, where I explain ideological (incl. convention, law, and political resolution) and instrumental (incl. functionality and legitimacy) factors influencing normative and procedural transitions in holding government authorities accountable and supporting the affected persons with due remedies in China.

Currently, I am working on two projects:

1). On difference and similarity in the way that government authorities are regulated in selected regions in Asia and Europe, which share similar governance traditions while having developed distinct AJ models;

2) On judicial digitalisation and its impact on judicial quality in China and Europe (together with Prof. Tom Zwart).
