Di Dong is a PhD Candidate at the School of Business and Economics of the department of Management and Organization. She is on a 4-year PhD project under the supervision of Prof. dr. S.N. Khapova and Dr. T.J. Akkermans.
Di obtained her master degree in Economics of Education at the Beijing Normal university in 2016-2019. Prioring to join the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, she was working as a project assistant at UNESCO Lifelong Learning Institute, Germany and the administrative assistant at British Council China. Di is also involved in collaborative work with the International Office at the VU.
Research
Her PhD project is funded by the Chinese Scholarship Council and focuses on the employability development of internationally mobile Chinese graduates look like in light of achieving their career goals. In particular, she researches study motivations for choosing to study in European universities and their expectations for employability development. Moreover, the study examines how transferable their employability really is: if they succeed abroad, will these employability skills be directly applicable either in China or in Europe? And how effectively could they integrate these competencies into the labor market?
