Dian van Huijstee is a PhD Candidate and lecturer at the department of Communication Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In her project, under supervision of Prof. Dr. Peter Kerkhof, Dr. Ivar Vermeulen, and Dr. Giulia Ranzini, she investigates the continued influence effect of misinformation. Why does corrected misinformation still have an impact on our reasoning and behaviour, even when we are consciously aware that the information is untrue? By doing experimental research, she investigates which (psychological) mechanisms underlie the continued influence effect of misinformation, and which interventions are effective in reducing continued influence.
