Personal profile

Personal information

I use spatial analysis and modelling approaches to understand the spatiotemporal patterns of land systems changes and its impacts on biodiversity. I am particularly interested in understanding how decisions or changes in human-environment systems can affect other actors and environments in distant places. Regionally, my research has focused on Mexico and Africa. I have also worked at the National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity (Conabio), a federal government agency in Mexico mainly devoted to quantitative assessments of Mexico’s biodiversity. I am currently part of a project investigating land system science tools for assessing sustainable development pathways and anticipating the dis-placed consequences of Global Biodiversity Targets.

Expertise

Spatial analysis, land-use modelling, biodiversity indicators, scenario-based modelling.
