Personal information

Dirk Inghels is Associate Professor at the School of Business and Economics (Operations Analytics) since 2016. Previously, he was affiliated as Research Associate at the University of Antwerp, Belgium at the Institute of Transport and Maritime Management (ITMMA) between 2009 and 2012. In 2006 he received his MSc degree of Industrial Engineering and Management Science at the TU Eindhoven. In 2000 he received his MSc degree in Industrial Management of the University of Ghent, Belgium. In 1990 he received his MSc degree in Industrial Sciences (Electro-Mechanical Engineering) at currently the University of Antwerp, Belgium. He obtained his PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2016.

He is currently Quality, HSE and Sustainability director at Aluminum Duffel BV in Duffel Belgium. 

Research

Research is focussed on sustainable supply chain management. More particular the supply chains dealing with Municipal Solid Waste Management and End of Life of Vehicles were studied in Flanders, Belgium. Further research is ongoing with the focus on integrating Operations Research techniques in topics related to sustainable supply chain management.
