David is a clinical psychologist/psychotherapist, senior researcher, specialism lead for psychosis, and lead for the candidate TopGGZ Early Detection and Intervention Team at Parnassia Psychiatric Institute in The Hague and has a research affiliation with the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. He is specialised in cognitive behaviour therapy for psychosis and post-traumatic stress. David is a supervisor for the Dutch Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy and a member (practitioner) of the Dutch Association for EMDR. He completed his PhD (cum laude) at the VU University into the feasibility and safety of trauma-focused treatment in individuals with psychotic disorders and chronic PTSD (www.traumaenpsychose.nl). David’s research focusses primarily on testing (new) psycho-social interventions for people with psychosis and on improving our understanding of mechanisms of change. He also leads several innovation projects in which he collaborates with industrial design engineers, philosophers, and experts by experience, e.g. temstem, a smartphone app for voice hearers (www.temstem.nl), or a project aimed at redesigning the Dutch mental healthcare system (www.redesigningpsychiatry.org).
