Personal information

Elko Klijn obtained his PhD from the University of Leeds in Leeds, the United Kingdom in 2006. He holds a MBA degree (cum laude) in General Management at the University of Leeds. Prior to his academic career, Elko worked as a consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in the Netherlands.

Research

His research focuses on governance in strategic alliances and more particular on board of directors in joint ventures. In this strand of research he focuses on board composition, board tasks and how these characteristics and responsibilities influence alliances outcomes. His work has appeared in academic journals such as the British Journal of Management, Global Strategy Journal,  and Journal of Management Studies as well as practitioner oriented outlets such as Long Range Planning, and the European Business Review. Elko is also the editor of a book on alliance governance.
