Research

My research interests are centered on the social determinants of mental health, in particular psychotic disorder. My work includes studies on incidence and prevalence patterns of psychosis among ethnic minority populations in Europe and the U.S. I am also interested in understanding underlying mediating mechanisms at the cognitive, behavioral and neural level using a combination of epidemiological and experimental study designs.

Another line of my work evolves around pathways to care and outcomes for people in comprehensive early intervention services for psychosis. I also have a deep interest in global mental health research and am involved in several studies that aim to address mental health inequities between high- and low-income countries.

The overarching aim of my work is to uncover disparities in the occurrence and treatment outcomes of psychopathology across populations. My research seeks to inform public health interventions for improving mental health at the population level and identifies targets for early and more effective intervention for mental health problems.
