Dr. Ernst Patrick Graamans is an assistant professor of Culture and Leadership at the Department of Management and Organization, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). He graduated cum laude in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Open Universiteit Nederland. Ernst wrote his PhD dissertation entitled Beyond the Idea of Culture at the VU School of Business and Economics.

His aim is to play a bridging role between behavioral science, on the one hand, and management practice, on the other. Another aim is to learn from and collaborate with disciplines and organizations that work on the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. He led a field research, for example, on ways to encourage people to abandon the practice of girl circumcision among Maasai and Samburu communities in Kenya.

He authored a number of professional and academic publications on boardroom dynamics, change management, organizational culture, healthcare management and sexual and reproductive health and rights. Together with drs. Leonard Millenaar and prof. dr. Wouter ten Have he received the 2013 ROA Professional Publication Award.

From 2012 to 2020 Ernst worked for a consultancy firm that advises medium to large, profit and not-for-profit organizations at board level on strategy and change management.
