Personal information

Eve Ernst is a PhD Candidate in Behavioral Law and Economics in the department of Private Law of the Faculty of Law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is conducting her research under the supervision of Arjen van Witteloostuijn and Wolf Sauter. She is also integrated with the Ethics, Governance, and Society department within the School of Business and Economics, and the Amsterdam Behavioral Economics and Law Lab.

After a Bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Strasbourg and a Master's degree in Environmental Economics at the University of Paris Saclay, she joined the VU Amsterdam in September 2022.

Research

Her PhD project entitled “Crowding out sustainability motives: effects of the form of legal norms on intrinsic motivation of sustainability compliance”, focuses on the experimental identification of the behavioural determinants of firms compliance with environmental regulations.
