Research

Fanny de Swart is a developmental psychologist and a registered healthcare psychologist. She is an Assistant Professor of psychology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) and works as a postdoctoral reseacher at Leiden University. Her research interests involve social processes in classrooms, such as peer relationships, teacher-child relationships, and groupdynamics. She is interested in ways to apply intensive longitudinal data to learn more about day-to-day social processes in classrooms during the school year. She obtained her PhD at Radboud University with her dissertation: "social processes in special education classrooms: the role of teachers and peers for pupils' adjustment". She has a background working in special education for pupils with Emotional and/or Behavioral Disorders. Within this field she has a special interest for and experience in education - youthcare trajectories involving pupils at risk for school drop-out. She teaches Groupdynamics in the postacademic education for schoolpsychologist.
