Floris Bikker is a biologist and chair of the department of Oral Biochemistry. His research is focused on understanding the protective role of saliva in oral health. This involves salivary diagnostics, the development of protective coatings against dental erosion and biofilms, wound healing capacity of saliva, and novel solutions to treat xerostomia. Furthermore, he is affiliated to ACTA’s saliva clinic where patients with xerostomia and saliva related complaints are treated. In addition to research, he performs teaching duties in the field of saliva and biochemistry within the dentistry programme at ACTA.
