Floris Leijten is a PhD researcher based at Unilever in the United Kingdom with a dual appointment within the Environmental Geography Group at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM). His research is part of the COUPLED project (coupled-itn.eu), an EU-funded research project that aims to answer questions relating to sustainability and land use change using the telecoupled framework.
His research is concerned with the effectiveness of corporate zero-deforestation commitments with a special focus on Indonesia. During his studies, Floris worked as a research assistant at the London School of Economics and the IVM, which sparked his interest in environmental impact assessments and spatial analysis. His dissertation was about the productivity effects of an agricultural programme in India and is currently under review.
